Cows are tragic animals: we give them for granted, we are brought up believing it is perfectly normal for humans to systematically raise and slaughter millions of them every year just so we can fill our tummies a little. Have you ever stopped for a minute and think about the way we treat thee animals? Can you look at this girl's eyes and sincerely tell her, "I want you to not have a life and die a horrible death because I want a steak"?
At the Temple we do not tolerate the treatment of bovines, and any other animal for that matter, in the way the industrialized meat industry has found to maximize profits and create endless waste, at the cost of an amount of animals suffering which is impossible to calculate.
Cows in particular are at the heart of this issue: much like fawns cows were made by the Cosmic Deer to be completely void of any form of evil thought and intention, they are innocence and sweetness incarnate. Despite that, humans have managed to turn them into a resource to exploit to the extreme.
Cows were meant to be some of the deer's and man's best friend, aiding with emotional support, friendship, and even work or example by helping ancient humans with their plows, this in turn let them grow more props, which could be used to feed the cows and live together happily. But, as everything that has to do with mankind, it went south pretty quickly.
When men realized how tasty cow meat was, and had access to heavy machinery to industrialize their slaughter, men started abusing this species like no other. The Cosmic Deer stared with disbelief as these ignorant fools wasted infinite innocent lives for something thgat is so easily replaceable with something that doesn't require animal abuse. Man's selfishness and greed knows no bounds.
It was then decided that every cow is to be considered a living martyr, and a dedicated place was erected in deer heaven to house the beautiful creatures who were unfortunate to experience the horrendus conditions of the dairy industry. Those who had to suffer so much on Earth are automatically rewarded with a peaceful afterlife, while the humans responsible for that suffering are locked away in the torture dungeon the Deer built to "entertain" the dead humans who abused animals, and there they shall remain for all of eternity.
